Hicks has internet again, so I have a line home to Australia, my girlfriend is asleep in the bed next me and hasn't been woken up by me watching newsradio on Youtube just yet.
I should spend more time looking at other journals and replying, but I haven't been on the computer so much lately, what with the pain and all.
I think I have writers block. Or possibly "I can't be arsed writing anything other than this"
I hear there is a lot of that going around. |

[Jun. 5th, 2007|01:15 am] |
There are only a few actual frightening scarecrows:
3: Doctor Who S29 09, they were just soldiers
2: Surpassed by the Scarecrow from Batman: The Animated series (and movie), he was cool. Who is only, and I mean, ONLY surpassed by:
1: The Scarecrow from: "Round the Twist, season 1, episode: Know All". That was a freaky scarecrow, despite the fact it all works out in the end. |

Cool! I have a new mutual friend "prepare4trouble" (don't know how to post link to journal). I enjoy reading this persons journal as they appreciate good TV. ie Stargate!
And "The Girl From Tomorrow". Anyone who remembers/likes TGFT is great. I may be biased though as I'm the one who did the stuff for Film Australia...
I'm actually watching the second series at the moment. Silverthorn (BEST. VILLAIN. EVER!)was about to beat a beat a police officer with a steering wheel lock. The character really isn't that different to "Bob Jelly" on Seachange.
Well, maybe toned down a bit, but that lust for power is still there.
Now if only Silverthorn and Ashka had children, that would have been an awesome series! As they both pretty much seemed to end up in the same place... |

| | My girlfriends snoring... | ] | Despite the fact I have done several more comics for "Torture Hammock" I haven't posted them up yet. And they're important comics too, I reveal my characters name and DOB for the first time. I will post them eventually. I usually do things when they feel right, not because I should.
Despite the fact Torture Hammock is fairly non sequential I'm toying with the idea of ending it as a series. I would probably still use the character, because I love drawing him, but in a different context. I'm up to 65 comics now, although I have more that I haven't put up yet, I may stop at 100. Not decided yet.
I did have an idea for the next series (this will be my third series of comics if it goes ahead) called "Hellview Psychiatric Hospital", which is basically about the inmates of an insane prison ward, who although have many chances to escape always end up staying at "Hellviews". It's basically about the different insane inmates and their characters bouncing off each other. Technically I guess it would be a spin off of "Torture Hammock" as one of the inmates is the main characters birth mother (!) but nothing is set in stone yet.
I enjoy Torture Hammock because I can do anything I want. I was thinking of doing something more mature next time, but I'm getting excited about the concept of "Hellview" so I may be maiming the rest of the human race for years to come. |

| | Micallef Pogram Theme | ] | Well, I went to bed at 1pm, but couldn't get to sleep until around 5pm-ish. Then i woke up/got up around 3am. And now I'm confused... There doesn't seem to be any real point in going to bed now as I'm not really tired. I'm not drinking tonight, because, well, it's not a good idea to start drinking and then go teach a class in a few hours.
So everything is the truth.
I got up at 3am, then made some great Thai red curry for dinner. That was good curry, except now I'm out of coconut milk and there is substantially less Red curry paste...
I'm watching The Micallef Pogram - Episode 4, it's great stuff, and with the spelling of "Pogram" denotes that it's the 3rd season, which is my favorite.
Oh Charlie's coming.
Yeeeeeeah. I think. Maybe. He SAID he was coming, the thing about Charlie is that sometimes he's joking, sometimes he'll arrive late and sometimes he attack me with a sword.
Once again, it's all the truth. No joking here... Unless you're Charlie and find the whole thing hilarious.
He said he was coming on the 12th of April, and only wanted very vague directions to my new apartment here in Japan. He's that kind of guy, he'll travel from Australia to Japan just to surprise me. So I've got no idea what time, or even if he's coming today, if at all. So I've been polishing my katana and waiting for the moment he pops through my door, or possibly window.
Once again, no joking here.
I'll have to show him season 6 of Highlander, or at least selected bits, as a anything without Fitz is crap.
It's probably a stupid idea to stay up until I got to school because I'll have to teach my lessons, ride there and back, and then if Charlie does turn up, we'll be drinking all night. Probably not the best course of action, but undeniably the most fun.
I was reading orangejuiced's live journal, and found links to the school we both went to, Stromlo High, so I was looking through some of the profiles to see if I knew anyone. Then I remember that I don't actually have any memories left of High school, as since then I've hit my head on so many low door frames in this country, I can't remember birth date. I did see some other interesting profiles with similar interests, and read through a few. I should add them to my friends list I think because, well, I only have 2 friends on my friends list. The things is, that a lot people on the internets are shy or normal in real life and very abrasive and confident on the net.
I'm the opposite.
I'm quite confident and abrasive in real life, oh! and vain too. Incredibly vain. But on the internet, I'm quite shy and don't wish to offend people. I think because basically men on the internet are all a bunch of perverts, stalkers and country music fans. I don't want to be seen like that. But what the hey, the worst they can do is call the police and have me arrested! |

My girlfriend might not live with me anymore because it's too far from her work, which means I could have gotten a new room mate in months ago, to help keep cost down etc, but didn't. Income tax in Japan has gone up, so my pay is now a lot less than what it was and I think I'm coming down with a cold. yay. me.
The one good thing is maybe Hicks will call tonight. I've been waiting by the phone, which is next the computer, but I also need to go out and get dinner etc before it closes. I should go now...
I should check to see if any cute 20 year old japanese girls want to come and live with me. hehehe, ahhhh revenge is sweet, but not very practical for a relationship |

I had a great idea for a party too. Funnily enough just after I came back from Australia... It's really a party that wyrwyr has to go to, as it's Good News Week themed. We'd watch some GNW, then get do our own questions and competitions, so you'd need at least 7 people to do this. it would be fun, cause wyrwyr is very obscure, it would be great. GNW is also great for drinking games, the possibilities are endless!!!
Well, back in Tsuruse. Oz was... still there, it was great to see all my friends again. Oh! And I also put Mr Squiggle on my cowon, so I can bust that out now. Showed the old ball and chain, she really liked it.
I should really see more people, haven't seen L-Chan since I came back, and should look up for people in my area to for drinking and stuff. Tsuruse is supposed to be full of foreigners, never see them myself. They're like bigfoot.
I also salvaged a CD with some old stuff I used to dance to back in the day. it's good to hear it again. I think I'm very retro, but not good at hiding... as much as I try to.

[Dec. 9th, 2006|04:01 pm] |
Well folks, it's been a while. oh yeah, I'm back. 'Cause it's raining outside and I'm trying to save money, internets are my only form of entertainment. All 2 of them.
Anyway, I've decided to become a doctor. Yes, a doctor. I'm not sure what of yet, I'm thinking I should just make something up and be a doctor in that. That way I don't have to go through 7 plus years of high education or be recognised enough to be "honorary". What a great scam, I just need to think of something... you know, new and crazy to be a doctor in.
I found sound Tiger Balm today! hahahaha! It's like napalm for your skin, it burns, it's a form of masacism and it comes in a neat little box. I hope it burns as well as I remember, I'm going to kill my sinuses.
I also saw the "Doctor Who" will be on NHK next wednesday, interesting, I'm curious to see 1. what season. 2. If it's poorly dubbed. I should recommend it to some students, just to mess them up a bit.
LJ has changed its interface as well, I should probably update everything here... |

| | "Save Me" Remy Zero | ] | We're back. Ok, I'm back. I haven't updated in ages. ages being a long time. imagine a "blogger" using that old excuse. still, here I am, blogging again. I'm sure at one point in the not to distant future, it'll become a crime to blog. at least I hope so. I'm already a criminal on serveral accounts of failing to sort my garbage properly in Japan.
Ok, the main reason I'm posting, is because I've invented a new cocktail. "Invented" meaning, I was alrady faaaaaaaaaaaairly far gone and I went to mix me a drink at my "windowsill" bar, and that I'll forget it by the time I sober up. there's a problem with the name. it'll be fixed as soon as I find a suitable one. The sugestions so far are:
"The Bar of Solitude"
"The Nintendo Gaybar" (misprononciation of "gamebar" when I was drunk and loosing at Mario party, it was funny at the time)
"Neon Genesis EvangeliBar" (was kneed in the crouch from my girlfriend after suggesting this one)
BARDIS (Bars.And.Reletive.Dimensions.In.Space. Alternativly TARBIS, Time.And.Relative.Bars.In.Space. I had to stop myself from using this one, I don't even like Doctor Who that much, or indeed know much about it)
I encourage anyone with a suggestion for my bar to make one in the comments section. Please. We really do need your approval/suggestions.
Anywho, . My new cocktail is called the...
ZPM
(That's ZED PI EM, for those of enough us fortunaly born Australian, British and Canadian, or unfortunate enough to be born a New Zealander)
After watching an episode of Stargate Atlantis, it occured to me that my cocktail would be good enough for powering an entire ancient city, but probably not safe to drink.
here are the ingredients to make this wonderful cocktail:
One shot of White Rum One shot of Malibu (differing from White Rum due to the coconut taste) One shot of Vodka One shot of Jim Beam Bourbon (or any other bourbon. I guess) One shot of Kaluha Two shots of Bailey's (for texture) One shot of Carsis Blackcurrent One Shot of Peppermint Schnapps
and one drop of tabasco sauce. (or more if you're Eric, I guess)
Shake in Cocktail Mixer.
Pour in Glass, and top up (a little) with Coke (or the cola brand of your choice)
Then drink.
Now at this point, you're taste buds are saying "Hey, this isn't so bad" and it isn't. You're taste, and indeed your brain, don't know what to make of it. It tastes ok, but it's fairly high in Alcohol. Then later you're brain won't know if it's likes you hates for what you've done to it.
I suggest brushing your teeth at the end of it though, it's actually quite solid. For a liquid.
Please try and make comments. For my amusement. |

| | Loreena McKennitt "Bonny Portmore" | ] | I think I'm single handedly repsonsible for the death of Canberra's tourism industry... I've told most of my students about Canberra and now they have absolutly no desire to see it for themselves.
I told the truth. No more or less.
In other news, I watched the last episode of Highlander: The Series tonight. I had refrained from watching series 6 as I thought it would take away impact of series 5. So I only watched the first few and last two episodes. The last two were pretty special actaully I thought, they did the whole "What would the world be like if you never existed" episode a la "A wonderful Life"
Fitz (Played The Who's Roger Daltrey) was the "Angel". He was always my favortie character, mainly because: 1. He's been THE ladies man for 800 years (originally killed of by a jealous husband). 2. He and Mac 'bounce' off each other really well. They are best friends, but never stop arguing. 3. He reminds me of Charlie
So Tessa was alive again (yay!) Richie was alive but died again (a running joke me thinks) and Mac kills Methos. (All the other "other" reality)
However the last bit was the best, desipite the fact it was all clips. But they were clips of all the best parts of Mac's life, the best fights, the best (ie least fake) quickenings, and all the characters, and all this was to teh tune of an EXTRA long version of Loreena McKennitt's beautiful song "Bonny Portmore"
I thought it was a good a good way to end a series that had changed so much since it's conception.
Highlander is just 'my thing' I suppose.
And in introspective news:
It also made me think as well, looking back on my own life, I've done lots of things:
I've had fantisitc times, made life-long friendships, I've had very embarrassing moments, I've had my share of love, and of pain, I've travelled, I've moved, and I've had so many experience, all wonderful, scary, sad and exciting.
But the best thing is that I can always do more of everything I've just said above.
Remember the past, don't mourn it, don't live in it, don't hate it or love it too much, just respect it and learn from it. |

| | "Dr Beeeeen. HEY! Dr Ben! Dr Beeeeeen HEY! Dr Ben!" | ] | Yes yes, my subject IS cheating a bit as everyone knows that comic in Japanese is "manga". But there really isn't a word for "Cartoon Strip" or at least, one that I know of.
So, I've made quite a few of those little cartoon strips at work, close to, or maybe even, 30. So I've put them in a book of sorts. I've photo copied 23 (not including some where I was really obviously off my game that day), I've made a cover and coloured it crayon, and I even bought a purple glitter pen, and put "directors commentary" about all the strips. Well, almost all of them, I'll finish it on Tuesday I'm guessing as I left it at work.
I've made some truely awful strips, most ending in a bizarre unrelated punchline or, more oftern than not, violence and death. I get a few chuckles from readers every now and again, mostly at my other school, shiki, though. I'm also going to write an indroduction which will hopefully clarrify things a bit. Mostly about the name, or lack of one. I decided a while ago, not to give the strip, or the main (re-occuring) character, a name, lest some sort of emotional attachment is formed.
I did however name the book, which is apptly titled: "What the HELL is wrong with you!?!" But it's not to be confussed that the strip itself has a name.
It's deffinalty a "for my friends" kind of thing and not something I'll put on the web. Probably. I was thinking of putting it up on the internet for all to see, and I did put the first few up at: www.mrsquiggle.50megs.com but I stopped due to lack of interest, and the fact that I use my digital camera to put images up as I have no scanner. ie they looked crap. and trust me, my recent stips are a lot worse (or better, depending on your level of insanity).
So, I guess I'll bring the book back to Australia if people are interested.
In other news, L-chan's parents are here in the city right now, so we're going out to some uber expensive yakiniku resturant tonight, which I have feeling, will be like shooting my wallet gangland style. |

Went to the gym, I think its working. I'm stronger and I can kill an Ox with one hand. At least, I assume I can, there is an Ox shortage in Saitama at the moment.
I deciding not to post on LE at the moment, becasue there is a rather heated debate, and I'm not... subtle at all. Whatsoever. I just know my rather frank ideas will hurt and insult everyone, so I'm trying to stay out of it. I've noticed some other people have too.
I had three days off last weekend, and squandered them as per usual, but it was nice just having a day to myself and wandering around, I did pick up the new Liberty Meadows book, although I haven't read much of it yet.
Things I really want to see again for some strange bizzare reason: 1. Police Rescue. 2. The Games. (ABC sitcom) 3. Let's go, Mini suka police.
I wonder if Mark is still thinking of coming to Japan, I hope so, he'd love it here.
I saw Batman Begins too, it was a really good movie, now people are saying I should go and see War of the Worlds, the problem is that movies are so expensive here, it'd be AU$22 a pop. But it's worth it just to go and see the surreal "Don't steal movies of the internet" ads before the feature film. In the one I saw this girl appeared to be: 1. Naked 2. Crying silver paint 3. Not famous.
Oh, and I really need a haircut. |

And then you have to put all you CD's on to it. A daunting task. Especially for those of you who know my CD collection. It's not so much the quantity that worries me, it the quality.
I sent Mark a package too. I didn't include a letter or anything, I just put it in a normal envolope reinforced by tape, but they didn't put a customs decloration on it, maybe because it was small... not sure. And I sent it to the last known address I had of Mark in Orange. Which may not be accurate either... So basically I'm not sure if he'll get it. But I tried. And its fun just sending random stuff with no explanation. I saw it and it rememinded me of Mark.
I'm not going to say what it is. Just in case Mark reads this journal. But if you do, expect something in your PO box soon. If I, or Japanese Post, or Australia post doesn't stuff it up.
I'm still playing this golf game on the PSP that L-chan bought me, its really good, and horribly addictive. We've all started playing it at work... L-chan is still better than me, but still, I am getting better.
Oh and I've also made some cartoons strips. Really crappy ones. They're 10 minutes strips. ie, strips that I draw in 10-15 minutes after I have a basic concept of what they're about. I've sent them to Hicks, I guess he might put them up when he finds the time. They're not funny, really bad drawn and bassed off either something real that's happened, or a concept someone gave me.
They're kind of strips that will make Ben be embarrassed to be my friend. hehehe
I wish I know how, or if I could, post them up here. |

1st of all, I thought it would be great to give my liver a break, what with me living with Charlie, (who's now gone home) but I ended up going a beer factory and drinking (beer) everyday with Dad anyway.
Glenn can really pack them away too!
We went to Osaka first. And when I say Osaka, I really mean Universal Studios. It wasn't to crowded, so I went on all the good rides quite a few times. The Spiderman ride was awesome! kind of a 3D simulator on rails. If that makes sense. And (i'm assuming) it was true to the comic! (becasue it was in Japanese)
The Jurassic Park ride was cool, it has the longest, or quickest or biggest waterfall thing at the end. Jaws was...funny.
"Shark still looks fake."
And that quote brings us to... the Back to the Future ride! Which I went on several times. And took lots of photos of the replica Delorean (in fact, they're the only photo's I took at USJ...) and brought lots of crap in the shop! Including a neat pocket watch.
Then we went to Nagoya. Which is where Expo is. For those of you who don't know, Expo is the 'World's Fair' they have every year, or every few years or something. But it came for our bicentenial back in 1988 up in Bris-vagas. Maybe some of you made it up there. I didn't.
If you walk by a travel agent, you might see large dark green and small light green things that look like shrubbery. They're the mascots.
Expo was a lot of fun, but there were so so so so so many people there. You ain't seen nothing till you've seen this. And I've lived in Tokyo for 2 years.
There were lots of fun things to do, I went on a giant half covered ferris wheel, which included a history of the dreams of cars. No joke there curiously enough. I went to lots of counties pravilions, mostly the smaller more obsure countries because they were less crowded. Cuba was interesting, as was Shrilanka and India. Canda was too crowded so I couldn't get in, the US pravilion had a metal detector, and a scary hologram of Benjiman Franklin, the Australian one was pretty cool, and I had my first meat pie in 6 months there too.
Things I didn't get to see but wanted to include: The all sing, all dancing Toyota robot show, (no joke there either. They even play instruments!) the hitachi virtual feeding of endangered species and Korean Pravilion.
Strangest thing at expo: They have robots rolling around, and they tell you to "get out of their way" in no uncertain terms...
Then we went to Kyoto, which, as always was really nice. i went to see the Golden Temple, it really looks like gold.
But they have security guards there too I found out.
This morning it was raining a bit, which was actually really nice, becasue it made all the outdoor temples seem that much greener. Some of them here over 600 years old!
Then I caught the Shinkansen (bullet train) back to Tokyo and then started writing this.
This is also of course pretty much the same post as I made on LE, I'm lazy and there is no need to re-write literature of this... magnificence. *cough* |

It was a beautiful day tonight, not to hot, nice breeze, buy tokyo, or even most standards, it was perfect. So what do people do on this perfect day? Come to nova, which is inside, and learn english...
Idiots.
It's golden week here, that means everything (but us, of course) has a holiday, so most other nova schools are empty, but not ours, its chock full of wait for it...
Idiots.
They don't seem to realise that we don't get time off. In fact when we tell them, they laugh and say "everyone has golden week off" despite the fact THAT IT IS GOLDEN WEEK. And they're sitting in nova telling us.
Idiots.
Not much else to report. I'm still working, parents are getting here soon, and I haven't had any time do anything fun. or really anything at all.
I wonder if I can put some of my comics up here. Or is that for a paid account?
I don't know. I have a day off soon, and I'm sooooooooooooooo going to sleep in.
